Seventeen Pearls

Once upon a time there was a pirate who decided to loot the Royal Ship.  After devising the plan he realized he cannot do it on his own, thus he asked another pirate and promised him one third of the treasure.  When the night came they asked ship mate to stay on the look out so they will not be surprised by guards, and they promised him one ninth of the treasure.

When they opened the stolen treasure box they found seventeen pearls inside.  They started to argue how many each will get. "I will get half of the pearls because it was my plan, you will get one third as I promised and the ship mate one ninth, but how to divide seventeen pearls, if we cut them they will have no value...".  They argued louder and louder, how many each should get.
